Autumn is the season of the Cyclocross. It is the moment when everything starts again. Weekends full of competitions until the end of January and weeks of training with no sun light, cold weather and mud. A lot of mud. While other modalities are resting, such as the road or the XCO, the Cyclocross show begins. In the Ciclocross, the competitors have to reach a certain number of laps in a circuit where the asphalt is mixed with roads, muddy terrain and obstacles, and this can be natural or artificial scenario. These obstacles are the reason why cyclists have to get off the bike and carry it on to get avoid them. Great show!

This year Cicloross starts in a fantastic way: the creation of the new Spanish professional team, Team Ginestar-Delikia Sport. In fact, the first round of the Ciclocross Lotteries Spanish Cup was played on Saturday 28 in Laudio-Llodio (Euskadi). This first scoring event has left Felipe Orts (Ginestar-Delikia) and Aida Nuño (MMR Bikes) as leaders. The Valencian Orts has highlighted from the beginning, forming a group with the Frenchman Tony Periou, Aitor Hernández (Specialized-Ermua) and Kevin Suárez (BioRacer-Nesta-MMR). But finally Orts arrived alone with 32 seconds over the two persecutors. The current winner of the Spanish Cup and national champion, Ismael Esteban, also of the newly created Ginestar-Delikia, finished tenth, 2:47 of his teammate Orts, showing that he is already on the good way after his injury.

In the elite female race, the Asturian Aida Nuño advanced in the last sprint to Lucia Gonzalez, after a heads-up between the two cyclists of the Lointek Team. Nuño won Gonzalez. A season of spectacle and emotion of Cyclocross has just begun. Next November 5th, the second scoring round of the Ciclocross Lotteries Spanish Cup will take place in the Vizcaya town of Karrantza.
